RJ Susko
RJ Susko is a municipal management professional that has worked throughout the Pittsburgh region solving complex problems of aging infrastructure, blight remediation, community revitalization, and municipal operations modernization.
Academically grounded with a B.S. in Public Health from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a Master’s of Public Administration from the University of Pittsburgh, RJ is passionate about recognizing the potential of the built environment to positively impact community health and strives to empower the communities she serves to develop a sense of place that can uplift residents and visitors alike.
Most recently in her current role as Planning and Development Director at the Town of McCandless, RJ has overseen the Town’s first wholesale zoning update in the last 50 years, involving a complete re-write and restructuring of the McCandless land use and development codes. She is a member of the International City/County Management Association, has volunteered as an instructor at the Local Government Academy, and is an active participant in the Congress of Neighboring Communities (CONNECT), where she got her start in local government as a policy intern.
In her free time RJ enjoys traveling to anywhere off the beaten path with good craft beer and a rail trail, where she can often be found collecting new city hall selfies and exclaiming to her husband how she can’t wait to bring her next big idea back home.
As a previous City of Pittsburgh and Urban Redevelopment Authority employee, Miranda has a deep understanding of city processes and the local government landscape. Miranda has been involved with Civically, inc. since 2019 and is excited to continue to support the great work being done in Wilkinsburg.
In her free time, Miranda enjoys spending time outdoors with her dogs and exploring Pittsburgh’s many neighborhoods and parks.
